Hi Everyone,

On Jan 10th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. 21 interested members of our congregation met for an exciting and productive visioning meeting for our church. We reviewed lots of information that we have been gathering from members, nonmembers and community leaders and we condensed this input into four concrete mission goals, two that focus on the congregation and two that focus in the community outside of our church.

(1) Becoming a welcoming, all inclusive congregation. This group discussed taking baby steps, stepping outside of ourselves and greeting strangers, wearing name tags as a welcoming gesture, and working on being more tolerant of people who are noticeably different and make us feel uncomfortable.

(2) Purchasing a 15 passenger van/bus to provide transportation for children and adults to and from church and to help groups travel out into the community and beyond to do ministry.

(3) Community Outreach: This group discussed becoming an overflow shelter, providing monthly community meals, sponsoring school clothing exchanges, among other things.

(4) Community Relations: Publicizing our church’s ministries more effectively, and motivating members to become more involved in community efforts to help others.
