Adult Forum beginning this Sunday at 8:45 am. (Adult Chris. Ed.)
Short-Term Adult Discussion Forums on Sunday Morning
Due to the fact that there is not currently an eighth grade confirmation class, I have not been teaching on Sunday morning. I have had some inquiries about adult Christian education on Sunday morning, which we characteristically have not done on Sunday morning. However, during the 8:45 – 9:45 a.m. time frame of our current Sunday morning schedule, and due to the fact that there isn’t much coffee and fellowship going on at that time, I thought I might begin a time of adult forum and discussion before worship at 10:00 a.m. The first topic I am calling “Christianity and Culture,” which will explore the relationship of the Christian faith to American culture, and the reasons for the declining trends in worship participation, and Christian education we have observed in our own congregation over the past ten years, and in the community at large for the last several decades. People will be encouraged to offer their own opinions on the subject, and I will share what I know and have observed during the time I have been in ministry. This may lead us to some conclusions about what we can do as we are faced with this challenge. Because however much we might wish for it, things are not going to go back to whatever we may consider the “good ‘ol days” to be.
The first Adult Forum will meet Sunday, March 26, at 8:45 a.m. in the parlor. Hope to see you there.
